Want to know how to grow a small business through outsourcing?
Hi Welcome to another episode of Smooth Sailing Online Support TV. I am your host and captain, Lyndsay Phillips, steering you through the choppy waters of fast-paced business growth. Today I want to talk about outsourcing. I’m definitely a firm believer in outsourcing to grow your business and create more freedom in your life, not only because that is the basis of my business, but again, I am a firm believer. I’ll tell you why.
One of them is to do with your passion and your purpose. The other is thinking about the money, your hourly time. What is your time worth? First I want to talk about the passion end of things. For instance, we all start off in our business because we have a sense of purpose or something that we love, that we want to share, that we want to do, want to help people, whatever it may be. For instance, one of my clients is a life coach and she helps women feel empowered, love life, go after their goals and so forth. That’s why she’s doing what she’s doing.
When we start out, woo hoo, we’re into our passion, we’re serving people, excited, but there’s so much more to build your business. Then you end up sending out emails, doing social media, working out your solos. Maybe you’re even loading your content into your own website. It snowballs and there’s so much to do to keep your business running and to promote it and market it. It can be really overwhelming. You end up getting sidetracked from what your passion is. Then you end up maybe not even getting up in the morning. Oh my God, I have so much to do. Again, it can be so overwhelming.
Really think about why it is that you’re doing what you’re doing. What is your passion? What is your purpose? You want to get back to that and maybe outsource all those little things that you’re … overwhelming you and pulling you down. You really want to work on your business and not always in your business.
Then, again, half the time, the reason that we’re an entrepreneur, it’s because we want to create more freedom in our lives. We want time with our kids. We want to have vacations. We want to be able to be flexible on what we’re doing on a day to day basis. Focusing on your passion and outsourcing all the backend stuff and the marketing end of things or the administrative end of things, customer service, that part can really free us up so that is a huge thing to think about.
The second area that I want to talk about is the money. What is your time worth? If you stop and think about maybe you’re a business coach and you have private coaching clients, you have group coaching groups and so forth, what is your hourly time worth? If you stop and calculate that and then think about all the other things that you’re doing in your business instead of on your business, it makes you stop and think.
One of my clients actually he’s a business coach as well. He calls it mule’s work versus magician’s work. So figuring out your hourly rate, figuring out what your time is valued at. Work on tasks that are only going to generate your revenue and working on tasks that’s going to create that freedom in your life. That’s going to help your business grow. Just a couple areas to think about on why you should outsource.
