Key Lessons Learned from Emily Letran:

High Performance

  • Many entrepreneurs end up sacrificing their personal and family life in the pursuit of success. You’re more likely to regret the things you don’t do.
  • Everyone wants to achieve more and is driven to be the best, but we lose clarity over time and settle for less.
  • Having a clear and defined path is the easiest way to achieve your goal. When you are clear on what you want, it’s easier to say no to things.
  • You can’t want 10 things the most, you have to prioritize and focus.
  • There are five pillars to high performance: Clarity, Energy, Productivity, Courage, and Influence. You should develop all five traits to perform at a truly high level.
  • Influence begins with being a role model and embodying integrity. When you live with integrity, you will begin to attract the right people. Be known for authenticity.
  • Your actions are driven by your intentions, do you know what your intentions actually are? It’s easy to go on autopilot.
  • High performance applies to leaders and employees.
  • Energy is about maintaining a consistent output, taking care of your health and body so that you can do your work well. You will have trouble performing well if you are tired. Sometimes you just need to move around every so often to stay fresh.
  • If you legitimately have no time to get everything done, it’s time to delegate.

Determination

  • Determination is learned, it involves a positive learning environment and the right incentives.
  • Develop a support system that helps you learn and pursue your goals. Your closest friends should challenge you and give you perspective on the right direction.
  • A coach can give you a different perspective and accountability.

Final Tips

  • When all else fails, go back to the basics.
  • Prioritize your to do list and focus on one thing at a time.
  • Work with people who build you up instead of wear you down.
  • Be intentional with your food and don’t sacrifice your health, without energy you can’t be a high performer.
