Hi, everyone. Welcome to another episode of Smooth Sailing Online Support TV. I’m your host and captain Lyndsay Phillips, steering you through the choppy waters of fast-paced business growth.
So today I want to talk to you about the LinkedIn Pulse. Some people call it the LinkedIn Pulse, some people call it posting on LinkedIn, your blog, or an article, or just posting in LinkedIn. Either way, it basically is posting an article within LinkedIn so the posts show up in a separate area. This is separate from your status updates, if you will, that you normally do for Facebook, Google, Twitter, and your LinkedIn (where you might want to promote your podcast or promote a video or just put a fun post up). Let me share my screen, and I will show you how it’s done.
Basically what I did is, I found an old blog that I had on my ssonlinesupport.com site, and have taken that content.
Once you log into LinkedIn, you’ll see this general screen. This is where you publish a post, so you’re going to click on “Publish a post.” It’s super easy, guys. You can bring in an image, so I’m going to pull in an image that I’ve already found, or created, and they want 700×400, I believe it was what the measurements were, it said it right on the screen there, so there we go. Now, you can drag to reposition the image, so you can move it around, so I am happy with that, and then you’re going to put in your headline, and then also your content. I’m going to copy my information right here. I’m going to punch in a title.
Of course, you’ve got bold, italics, you can put in sub headlines, you can hyperlink things, and you can make them different colors. For the sake of time, I’m just going to leave it as is, and then you can save it and edit it and add things in later. You can see, you can obviously add in images and what have you, just like you would a blog in WordPress, right? It’s the exact same thing, so I’m going to hit “Publish.” Oh, it wants me to do tags, of course. I’m just going to throw some in there right now (for the sake of doing this) and there you go, so there is the post, you can see. It is all done. You can even edit the post afterwards, you can view the stats of how many people have viewed it and read it, and you can even share it on Facebook and Twitter.
So let’s go to “Pulse” real quick here. Here we go, “Top Posts,” and of course you can see all the other posts that everyone else has been looking at. These are the top posts that are up there right now in the Pulse, and you can just click on them, read them, and so forth, and you can, of course, again, share them on other social media.
These kinds of posts get noticed more, get read more in LinkedIn, so I highly recommend taking your blogs. You can recycle old ones, recycle articles. I highly believe in reusing and just set them up. You can’t preschedule it. You have to set them up manually, and with the steps that I just showed, so hopefully that helps you all, and you’re all posting in LinkedIn Pulse.
That’s it for this episode of Smooth Sailing Online Support TV, so until next week, folks, have a profitable and productive week, and may the winds always be at your back.
