Publishing Your Podcast In Google Play

Hey everyone, welcome to another episode of Smooth Sailing Online Support TV. I’m your host and captain Lyndsay Phillips steering you through the choppy waters of fast paced business growth. I don’t know if some of you realize but Google Play, or Google Play Music, now hosts podcasts. Just like iTunes does, Google Play Music is doing the exact same thing. If you do have a podcast show, you can have it up and available for people to listen to and subscribe on Google Play. I have of course connected mine already so I’m going to give you a brief tutorial and show you how you can connect yours to Google Play Music as well. It’s super easy. I’m going to flip the screen so you can see what I’m doing and then we’ll go from there.

Just to make it easy instead of me giving you a big long link, just go to ‘get podcast’ in Google Play. You’ll see two links here. One is to publish and one is the portal. I’m going to go to the publishing one first. It’s a pretty basic screen and you’re going to hit publish. Now I, of course, have one that is listed already so you’ll just hit add podcast. Then it’ll obviously ask you to ‘agree’ and all that good stuff. Simply enter your url for your RSS feed for your podcast show.

Now here’s how you find it. If you go into your LIBSYN account. I definitely recommend LIBSYN over any others. Simply go to destinations. Add or view existing and this is the libsyn link right here. You can see it says RSS on it. You simply go there, click submit, and then you have to go through an approval process. It usually takes a day and a half at the most. Then they’ll email you, let you know it’s live and that you can view it and check it out. They don’t give you a link in that email, which doesn’t really make sense to me. That’s why I want to give you reference to this portal.

We’re going to click on the portal. Of course, that one I’m going to delete. You can see here this one is now live. I’m going to go live. Now it will give you the actual link, that is your public link. That’s the one you’re going to want to share. Yes, it’s long and ugly looking so you’ll probably have to use a bit.ly link or a link shortener or something. But you see there, it automatically pulls in your description, the title, the graphic and it’ll show your episodes below.

That’s it. Super easy, right?  Then people can search and find you on Google Play Music. You want to, of course, make it as easy as possible for people to find your podcast, share it, subscribe, listen, and enjoy & engage in your content.
